This lecture provides an overview of advanced textile finishing technologies, focusing on the development of functional and aesthetic properties to enhance textile performance and meet the requirements of modern industrial applications. It covers a range of advanced finishing techniques, including antiviral, antibacterial and antimicrobial finishes, anti-pilling treatments, fluffy and soft-touch effects, water-repellent finishes, silicone-based finishes, UV protection, and chitosan-based treatments.
Special attention will be given to the use of polyurethane polymers in textile finishing, including their role in improving textile performance and their application on different textile substrates.
For each finishing technology, the lecture will discuss its working principle, application method, processing conditions, advantages, limitations, and impact on textile properties.
The lecture aims to provide a practical connection between textile chemistry, finishing technology, and industrial applications, highlighting modern solutions for developing high-performance, functional, and value-added textiles.
